In Celebration of Heroes Video Narrated by Walter Cronkite

The Stone Soup Leadership Institute produced this powerfully inspiring 10-minute video with award-winning Galen Films. It was sponsored by EDS, General Motors, Sun Microsystems and Unagraphic Solutions. It was premiered at The Celebration of Heroes event with Walter Cronkite on Martha's Vineyard in July, 2000.

In Celebration of Heroes features people from the book, Stone Soup for the World including Cesar Chavez, Mahatma Gandhi, Jimmy Carter, John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Eleanor Roosevelt as well as Nane Alejandrez, founder of Barrios Unidos, Will Morales, founder, Boston Youth Police Partnership and organizations: City Year, Christmas in April, Focus:HOPE, Operation Walking Shield.

It opens with Walter Cronkite asking:

As we begin this new millennium, it's a good time to take stock.
Where have we been?
Where we are going?
What do we want the next 100 years to bring ... for ourselves and our families?
And who will chart our course?

Mr. Cronkite closes by challenging us:

Somewhere on this planet, someone has a solution to each of the world's problems....
and Stone Soup for the World is asking all of us to take that first step.

It's a time to roll up our sleeves.
It's a time to share our stories and teach our children that they can be heroes.
It's time to take action -- and chart the course for our future.
