Ray Gatchalian is an inspirational speaker who encourages at-risk youth to stay in school.
Captain of the Oakland Fire Department, a Kellogg Fellow and Green Beret in Vietnam,
Ray produced "Violence in America: Interviews" and "Unheard Voices" and was featured
in our book and on ABC Movie of the Week about the 1991 Oakland-Berkeley Hill Fire.
Hulas King, Director of Strategic Partnership Programs for EDS Unagraphics Solutions,
served as a loaned executive to The Cornerstone Partnership in St. Louis, MO and Focus:
HOPE in Detroit, featured in our book. An African American engineer and businessman,
he mentors kids moving out of poverty and forward in their lives.
Judith Kurland, Regional Director for the U. S. Dept. HHS for New England, is architect
of Healthy Boston, a national model for multi-sectoral partnerships integrating health
care programs with education, economic development, housing, recreation, public safety,
and human services in communities which reduced African American infant mortality rates.
Marianne Larned, author of the Stone Soup for the World series, is Director, Stone Soup
Foundation. For over 20 years Marianne has assisted corporate, government, civic and
community leaders develop public-private partnerships to build healthier communities.
Dr. Terry Mollner, a pioneer of socially responsible investing and community development
he is president of The Trusteeship Institute, founding board member of the Calvert
Social Investment Fund, co-chair of the Calvert Foundation and The Robin Hood of Wall
Street.
Will Morales transformed his life from a 14 year-old gang leader to a 28-year-old law
student, home owner and new father. The founder of Boston's Urban Edge's Youth Police
Partnership, he is Director of the Egleston Square YMCA in Roxbury, MA located across
the street from where his brother was killed. His story in our book is A Man With A
Past.
Maureen Sullivan is the Director of the Urban Appalachian Council which she founded
in 1965. Their story, Papa to His People is featured in Stone Soup for the World.
Randi Vega is a trainer for the Stone Soup Leadership Training and Baltimore Director
of the Stone Soup Leadership Institute. The former Director of the Martha's Vineyard
Chamber of Commerce, she was a reviewer for the Stone Soup for the World series.
Jim Perry is a trained mediator and counselor with both individual and group counseling.
He is the former director of a community planning process known as Charrette.
Elizabeth Knox, a 1999 business graduate of Texas A&M University, she mentored students
and received the Champion International Scholarship for Leadership & Service.
Deb Heeter, Youth Development Director for the Muncie Family YMCA, was one of 8 pilot
sites from the YMCA of the USA who use the book and Stone Soup Leader's Guide.
