Stone Soup Leadership Training - Baltimore




Wanted: 100 teens and adults heroes!
You are invited to be a Stone Soup Leadership Fellow.

The first Stone Soup Leadership Training in Baltimore
will be held from November 17-19 at Morgan State University.

Learn how you can be a hero!
Work side-by-side with heroes from the book, Stone Soup for the World:

•Nane Alejandrez, former drug user, now leader in crime prevention, youth leadership;
•Nathan Gray, founder Oxfam-America's Fast for World Harvest, Chairman, Earth Train
•Hulas King, African American engineer East St. Louis and Focus: HOPE in Detroit.
•Judith Kurland, founder, Healthy Boston, reducing teen pregnacy and infant mortality;
•Will Morales, juvenile offender, founder of Boston's Youth-Police Partnership;
•Annette Williams, former welfare mom, now Vice President, NY Restoration Project

Hands-on, Inspiring and Interactive Program
Work side-by-side with heroes from the book, Stone Soup for the World
Hear their stories, learn from their experiences, rekindle your can-do spirit!
Learn how to build public-private partnerships and healthier communities.

Stone Soup for the World gives you 100 wonderful stories to share with the
children in your life. These heartwarming, action-oriented stories will
show them a different world -- real heroes who had the courage to
overcome obstacles in their lives and the determination to work hard
and build a better world.

Who Should Attend:


•Teenagers who want to learn how to make things better in their community;
•Mentors who want to teach kids values, character-building; citizenship lessons;
•Teachers searching for role models to inspire students to help their communities;
•Americorps and VISTA volunteers learning to collaborate with organizations;
•Program directors seeking tools to enhance service learning and community projects;

Each team includes teens and adults to maximize the impact on your community.
•Limited space to only 100 people
•Send application by October 30th, 2000

•Hours: Friday, November 17: 6-8 p.m., Saturday, November 18: 9-5 p.m;
Sunday,Nov. 19: 9-4 p.m.
•Cost: $150/team: 3-5 people. Work exchange and scholarships available.
•Leadership Institute Graduates will be part of year-long community service project
